Project Type: escape route and access across flat roof
Construction: system fitted to the concrete roof construction and covered with a 1.5m wide concrete walkway and roofing material
System: 2 heated driveway cables
Time on site: 1 day
Size – length / gradient: 24m walkway
An unusual project which required a roof installation of heated cables
This school needed to ensure a roof top fire exit and walkway was kept sage and ice free at all times.
HDS installed 2 heated mats controlled by air temperature and moisture sensors to ensure the fire escape is kept clear and functional. The total electrical load was just 8.5Kw (300w/sqm) and the installation was completed within a day.
The school was thrilled with this innovative solution to an important safety issue.
